Coins not shared across devices

I just realized that I had over 500 coins on my iPhone but they are not showing up on my iPad! This is crazy. I feel bad enough I buy these coins in the first place to feed my addiction to this game, only to find out they are not showing up on all devices under same apple ID. This is unacceptable.
